GOOGLE PENGUIN UPDATE: Google's Fight Against WEB SPAM 2020

GOOGLE PENGUIN UPDATE
Google Penguin is one of the latest algorithm updates of google.
Matt Cutts confirmed this through his recent tweet.
Like all other updates, this update affects about 3% of search engine results and a lot of high-quality sites.

This is one of those updates (after Google Panda) that creates anger among webmasters.

Many Bloggers who are affected by this update have already started working on recovery, and I have shared effective penguin recovery tips later in this article.

Before the Google Penguin Update, I would like to go further into this update, let me tell you that SEO is an integral part of maintaining the quality of a website. SEO is much more than creating a backlink. It has many other factors like page layout, user experience, page load time, website social signals and over 200 signals.

In short, the idea is to maintain a high-quality site in terms of content and usability. Use the latest technology and keep track of Google's important announcements regarding changes.

What is Google Penguin?

On February 28, Google first launched the Google Panda update. we never thought it would be such a great turning point for SEO. A lot has changed since then. The web is becoming more social.

If you were aware of recent Google attacks on private blog networks, they not only removed this website, they also damaged the value of the link.

With the Google Penguin Update, Basically, Google is targeting sites that fall under the "Webspam" section. These include optimized SEO sites, sites using black-hat strategies, keyword stuffing and sites using link schemes to create backlinks.

In 2018, Penguin Update has affected 3% of the result.

Many quality sites like Geek.com, Cultofmac.com, and Digg.com lost a great number of their high ranks according to some reports.

Here are some reasons, why your site might be affected by Penguin update :

  1. Anchor text over Optimization
  2. Link Relevance
  3. Link Pyramid
  4. Low-quality Backlinks
  5. Keyword Stuffing
  6. Outbound Link quality
  7. Broken Link (What are broken links? 2020)
  8. Any other Black hat SEO techniques

How to recover from Penguin update after affected?

After April 19, 2012, or April 24, 2012, at first, you need to analyze which updates drive traffic to your site. Check your analytics stats and notice if there are any traffic drops.

April 19th  Panda data refreshed. This was the most recent Penguin update on April 24th.

If it is after April 24th, then it is high time for you to start the Penguin Recovery. (Damn! Penguins were such a beautiful, flying bird).

You should consider mentioning your Panda Recovery Guide for the traffic drop on April 19th. If your site is penalized, this may be one of the reasons mentioned.
We know on-page optimization is one of the essential parts of SEO.

        Increase Anchor Text Distribution

Most of the micro-niche sites in the Penguin Update are due to the distribution of anchor text.
Most internet marketers use exact keywords in anchor text to get standard backlinks. If you do, you should work to increase the diversity of your links.

Try to get links to your pages with different anchor text.

Google Webmaster Tool is your good friend

The Google Webmaster tool is an Official product of Google.
Google has even started sending emails to users of Webmaster Tools when there is a problem or change in your site's traffic. If your site points to too many spam links (generating negative SEO), you'll get a notification.
It lets you analyze your site’s SEO in detail.

       Link Quality

If you use services that provide 1000 backlinks for $ 5, you're more likely to be penalized.
Either you get rid of such low-quality backlinks or you have to work hard to get high-quality links to maintain a decent ratio of bad to good links.
Another reason for their penalties is the variance of the links. Many links are coming from non-relevant niche and spam sites.

Create a new link-building campaign and focus on getting rid of the old low-quality links and acquiring new high-quality links with quality content, guest posting, and interviews.

       Stop Building Unusual Links

Most of us start posting guests in any niche, comment in another blog and grab 1-2 quick backlinks. Although these backlinks are not relevant to the blog topic, link builders still get a backlink. According to Google, these national links are unusual.

For bloggers who allow guest posting, you are reducing the quality of your site if you receive irrelevant niche posts.

       Keyword Density

If you are keyword stuffing, you should stop doing it. Instead, use the term LSI.

I like to maintain a maximum density of 1.5% and the target is the Long Tail keyword which is easy to rank. If your old post is stuffed with keywords, it's time to re-edit your content and make it real.

When I was analyzing one of my client's sites for Panda's effect, I realized that he had added at least 12+ meta keywords and many of them were neither targeted nor relevant. This is very common with older micro-niche sites.

If you are one of the niche marketers whose niche sites were badly affected by this update, I recommend you make changes to your content.

        Avoid Keyword Stuffing

This google algorithm penalized your site at some point. Bloggers who are using hidden text for stuffing, this penguin update will punish these niche sites.
If you are keyword stuffing, your content should improve.

        Go Social Media

If you've been working on micro-niche sites and been penalized by Penguin Updates, it's time to dig into your site's social factor.

              1. Have you integrated the social sharing buttons?
              2. Are readers sharing your content on social bookmarking sites?

If you still think that Google hates SEO, you are wrong. Even in this official post, Google has made it clear that White hat SEO helps improve the overall quality of the site and is an essential part of marketing.

The only catch is that you should not do SEO. Keep things natural by following quality guidelines and white-hat SEO practices.

In conclusion, I hope this article helped you understand the Penguin update and what steps you can take to get your site out of this Penguin Penalty.
